Chase revealed its third quarter 5x points bonus category for the Chase Freedom card.

Owners of the Chase Freedom card will receive 5x the points for every dollar spent at restaurants and movie theaters during the third quarter of 2017 from July 1 – September 30th.  You can activate the third quarter bonus tomorrow at Chase’s Ultimate Rewards site.

The 5x points bonus category is capped upto the first $1,500 in that quarter.  Every dollar spent afterwards will receive only one point per dollar.

The points earned with the Chase Freedom card is redeemable only for cash back through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal.  If you do happen to have a Chase credit card that also earns Ultimate Rewards points and has an annual fee like the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, Ink Plus or Ink Business Preferred with the same name on it, you can transfer the points from your Chase Freedom card to the other and make those points transferable to one of Chase’s many transfer partners including United Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Hyatt among many others.
